Kevin Murphy sm – Chaplain

1. Where did you grow up? 

I grew up in Howick, East Auckland – by the beautiful Howick beach. 

2. What school did you go to? 

I went to primary school at Our Lady Star of the Sea School in Howick, educated by the Sisters of Mercy. I went to secondary college at St Peter’s with the Christian Brothers for 4 years. I then spent 2 years at St Pat’s, Silverstream in Wellington with the Marist Fathers and finished at Sacred Heart with the Marist Brothers. 

3.What super power would you most like to have and why? 

The super power I would most like to have would be the ‘HOPE’ gene – so I can bring hope and encouragement to all I meet. 

4. What brought you to Logos? 

I founded Logos in 1999 along with two other Marist priests, Fr Joe Savesi and Fr Pat Breeze.

5. What was the best advice you received as a young person? 

“Take every opportunity offered to you and learn something new every day!”

6.What advice would you give to your younger self? 

“Bring LOVE, HOPE and JOY to everyone you meet.”

7. What do you do to make sure you are being your best self? 

1. Start my day with prayer: “This is the day the LORD has made, let us be glad and rejoice!”
2. Appreciate my friends and family and life each day.
